F WORDZ

F WORDZ is an uplifting, feminist, dance and spoken word project raising underserved voices to elevate & empower women of all ages.

F WORDZ uncovers personal experiences of feminism, failure, freedom, fierce and f***. We work with girls and women aged 16-65+ to elevate and empower each other by discovering shared feats, fears, vulnerabilities and power.

Joined by an extended community cast, we are creating a physical theatre show that will use movement, voice and original music to represent real stories, with the aim to debunk taboos about periods, gender barriers and sex, removing shame so we can celebrate the bodies we have, the way we think, and who we are!

We will run workshops with community members to make performances that will be performed in pubs, cafes, village halls, schools, colleges, universities, libraries and galleries, to reach young girls and women. We will represent girl’s and women’s true stories and experiences of being female. Empowered women empower women.

Sam is also developing the F WORDZ Podcast – interviewing different women and non-binary people – watch this space.

F WORDZ R&D (2021) was funded by Arts Council England and supported by local partners: a space arts, ZoieLogic, Theatre for Life, SoCo Music Project, City Eye, MAST Mayflower Studio Theatre, Tracie’s Latin Club, The Point, Pavilion Dance South West, Clearcut, Lila Dance, Hampshire Archives Trust, University of Chichester and South East Dance.

F WORDZ is raising money for Bloody Good Period, a charity who get period supplies items to refugees, asylum-seekers and those who can’t afford or access them. “Since March 2020, when the UK first entered lockdown, they’ve distributed over 100,000 packs of period products – meaning that people have had one less thing to bloody worry about.”
